The set contains 6 Model Air 17-ml colors. needed to represent the Grey and Red Desert models. In the 1970s, the U.S. Mobility Equipment Research & Design Command (MERDC) developed a camouflage system for U.S. Army vehicles. These consisted of a system of standardized patterns for each vehicle, to be used with a system of twelve colors.
